Step 2- Choose your volunteer project

Jungle Conservation

Our conservation project is located in the Amazon Rainforest on the outskirts of Manu National Reserve outside of Cusco. Volunteers will be involved in various types of work such as reforestation, animal observation and animal care. Volunteers normally work for 4 hours a day and the rest of the day they have free to explore the amazing area. Volunteers that choose to do reforestation will be planting trees, bushes and different endangered plant species as well as removing non-native and invasive species of bamboo.

Rescue project for dogs, cats and other animals

TWe offer two Animal Care Programs that give volunteers the chance to help animals that lack the proper care in Peru. In this program your time and talents will be greatly appreciated by not only the staff but the animals who deserve quality living conditions. We work with a Dog Care Program that works with the many stray dogs that live on the streets of Cusco. This project requires volunteers who are innovative, motivated, and willing to take charge. Tasks may include networking with small organizations that would like to help these dogs, raising funds, location searching, and direct work with stray dogs.

Child centers, creches and care centers

TProject in a childcare project may take place in either an orphanage, after school program, community center or shelter. The children at the projects we work with require a lot of care, attention and most importantly, companionship. Volunteers will assist with organizing activities for the children as well as helping them with their school work. Volunteers are encouraged to use their skills and interests to develop activities such as music and dance, jewelry making, aerobics, arts and crafts, etc.

Sports, games, outdoor activities in schools, clubs etc

Teaching Sport Education is one of our most popular projects. You will instruct the children in how to play new and different sports that they are not familiar with. You may also organize small championships or visits to sport complexes. You do not necessarily spend all your time teaching in a classroom. The Sport Education program consists of volunteers working in local schools to improve children's knowledge of sports and teaching foreign sports and games to the children. They also educate children on general fitness, health and wellbeing in addition to their regular lessons at the school. It is up to the volunteer to plan lessons and design the teaching of their sport program.

Agricultural work, farming, livestocks, green-house etc.

Volunteers will be placed in very small villages of approximately 60 people in the Andes Mountains outside of Cusco. This project provides an income source for small communities and promotes cross cultural understanding. Volunteers will be able to take part in local festivities and gatherings both within their host family and the community. Volunteers should consider this project an intense, cultural encounter and be able to live with only basic necessities. It will be very rewarding but also very challenging. Please note that the accommodations and meals will be very basic due to the extremely remote setting of these communities. Hot showers will not be available and running water is not guaranteed. Locals bath in a mix of boiled and cold water that they put in a bucket.

Schools, colleges, groups of kids, adults, women etc

VSpeaking English in Peru is very important due to the good job opportunities it provides to locals. However, many people cannot afford to study another language, especially children. Therefore, our Teaching English program is very important because it gives those who would not normally be able to study English the chance to learn the language. Our Volunteers will be volunteering at one of our Teaching English projects for about 3-5 hours a day. These projects include schools, community centers, orphanages, and shelters. The people at these projects come from low income families. Please note you may be teaching individually or you may be an assistant teacher in an English class that has a large amount of students.
